Last Race: Last week on the Grand Course at Virginia International Raceway, Ivan Machado and Victor Miranda split victories in the twin race event. Machado was fast from the get go, scoring the pole position and hanging on against a charge late from Miranda in the first race. The second race looked to be similar as the two pulled away from the rest of the pack. On the final lap, however, Machado slid into the 13th corner while battling Miranda. Miranda crossed over and took control for his second win on the season.

Last Year: Road America was the finale to the 2023 season. Diogo Pinto held a slim lead over Harley Haughton entering the night, and by winning the opening race, put himself that much closer to the title. The second and final race saw Haughton and Pinto both have separate issues, which would ultimately benefit the latter. After Pinto fell from the lead, it was Sebastian Wheldon up front with Luke McKeown for the win. Wheldon held on while Pinto brought it home in seventh to win the title by 13 points over Haughton, who did not finish the race.

Track Facts: Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin’s Road America has been a staple of American motorsport since the mid-1950s. From the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, INDYCAR, and NASCAR, to numerous open-wheel series, motorcycle events, and much more, this track is one of America’s most popular, hosting hundreds of events per year. It’s characterized by multiple long straightaways, elevation changes, hard-braking corners, and the sweeping right-hand Carousel that comprises Turns 9 and 10.

Next Race: Following Road America, the Skip Barber Formula iRacing Series takes on Lime Rock Park for the penultimate race of the 2024 season. This Hot Lap Qualifier is active from Friday, August 9th at 12 a.m. ET to Sunday, August 11th at 11:59 p.m. ET. The entry fee for each Hot Lap Qualifier is $20, and the top 20 drivers on the Time Attack leaderboard will be invited to run each race. They’ll also get to take part in an open test with Skip Barber Racing School instructors on hand to provide feedback. The main event will run on Thursday, August 15th.

About the Series: The Skip Barber Formula iRacing Series is where future stars of real-world motorsport prove themselves in the virtual one. Using the iRacing Formula iR-04, drivers take part in an open qualifier each week, and the top racers are selected to compete on Thursday nights.

The top three finishers in 2024 Skip Barber Formula iRacing Series points will be invited to compete in a shootout at VIR later this year, where they’ll receive a 3 Day Racing School and have exclusive access to Skip Barber Racing School training facilities and coaching as they battle for a full-season seat in the 2025 Skip Barber Formula Race Series. In addition, 1 Day Racing School certificates will be given to the Hard Charger in each race, as well as fourth and fifth in the final standings, and all drivers who qualify for any given race will receive a one-time $200 credit to Skip Barber Racing School.
