For the first time in series history, the eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series is set to take on Iowa Speedway as a points-paying event on Tuesday night. 40 of the top-ranked eNASCAR drivers are poised to battle through Heat races, similar to Richmond, with some extra points on the line at the 7/8-mile oval. Iowa also marks the start of the third and final segment of the 2024 season that runs from this, the 10th race, through the 14th race at Pocono Raceway.

Heat Race Format: For the second time in eNASCAR points paying history, Iowa’s festivities will include a pair of heat races to set the lineup for the main event. Two 30-lap heats are scheduled with up to 20 drivers taking part in each. The top 10 finishers in each heat will get the equivalent of what NASCAR does for stage points, where the winner gets 10 points and 10th place gets one. The results also determine how the drivers line up in the feature, with Heat 1 determining the inside row and Heat 2 determining the outside. The main race will be 90 laps in distance. A driver could collect up to 50 points tonight as opposed to the normal maximum of 40 points.

Last Race: Two weeks ago at Darlington Raceway, Kanaan Esports picked up their first win as an official team with veteran Vicente Salas scoring his second career win in dominant fashion. M80’s Steven Wilson scored the pole and led early, but a slide through his pit box set him back on a recovery drive for the rest of the race. Salas picked up from there and never looked back.

Last Year: This marks the first race at Iowa Speedway as a points-paying event, but this is actually the series’ second trip to Newton’s famed short track. Back in 2019, iRacing and NBC Sports connected for three races broadcast live on NBCSN’s NASCAR America. In that exhibition event, Nick Ottinger held off Ryan Luza for the victory.

Track Facts: Opened in September 2006, Iowa Speedway is one of the most unique short tracks in America. The 7/8-mile, D-shaped oval, designed with the aid of former NASCAR champion Rusty Wallace, features progressive banking in the corners and 10 degrees of banking on the frontstretch. This track has hosted multiple NASCAR Xfinity and Craftsman Truck Series dates from 2009 to 2019, and it remains a staple of the ARCA Menards Series and NTT IndyCar Series schedule. This year, the NASCAR Cup Series will take on the track for the first time in its history.

Next Race: Following Iowa, the eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series heads back to Nashville Superspeedway for the 11th race of the 2024 season. Last year, the infamous incident between Jimmy Mullis and Garrett Lowe set off nearly a year’s worth of storylines between the two, with Mullis winning at Lowe’s expense that day.
